Golden GABA Oolong Tea 2026, 50g | Tengchong, Yunnan

Golden GABA Oolong is part of a series built on Yunnan oolong, conceived to show what GABA processing can do with local high-mountain material. Grown on the volcanic soils of Tengchong, Yunnan, at 2300–2500 m, it turned out genuinely distinctive, bright and golden where many GABA teas are dark and heavy. This is the fresh 2026 harvest, offered loose in 50 g packs.

GABA tea is made through anaerobic (oxygen-free) processing, which naturally raises the leaf's GABA content and yields a notably smooth cup with no harshness. Here the result is light and lively: ripe tropical fruit up front, a thread of soft caramel through the middle, and a crisp, refreshing green-apple aftertaste that keeps each sip clean. Sweet and rounded, but bright rather than syrupy.

The liquor is clear golden, silky and light on the palate, carrying its fruit sweetness without weight. Across infusions it stays even and fresh, the tropical and caramel notes holding while the green-apple finish lifts the cup. Easy to brew and equally good in quick gongfu steeps or a relaxed Western pot.
