Hualinchun Chun Mo Shu Pu-erh (Ripe Pu-erh) 2022, 50g | Gengma, Lincang
Description
Chun Mo (春墨, "Spring Ink") is a 2022 ripe pu-erh from Hualinchun (华林春), made in Gengma county, Lincang, Yunnan. According to the producer, it is pressed from spring-picked Yunnan large-leaf material from old tea trees. Offered as a 50 g portion broken from the cake.
The cake itself already tells a story: fairly large leaves, plenty of visible stems and very little dusty fraction, with even compression that is not overly tight, so it breaks apart easily.
The producer describes a bright, clear liquor, a pronounced aroma, a rich taste and a lingering sweet finish. Expect the classic notes of large-leaf shu: wood, dried dates and a touch of cocoa.
This is a shu for those who want more than just "dark and strong": a ripe pu-erh where the character of the raw material still comes through. Comfortable in a gongfu session or a thermos for the working day.
