Description
Chun Ye is a 2022 raw pu-erh from Hualinchun (华林春), made in Lincang, Yunnan. It was the very first cake of our latest test batch, and a genuinely pleasant surprise. Offered as a 50 g portion broken from the cake.
You can tell from the cake alone that this is no ordinary everyday sheng: beautiful large leaves, plenty of intact material, neat compression and clearly good raw material.
In the cup it gets even better. It is clean, rich and lively, with a lovely sweetness, good depth and a long aftertaste, and the flavour keeps changing and opening up from one infusion to the next.
Best of all, this is not a tea that makes you stop and analyse every sip. You simply want to keep drinking it, which for us is one of the surest signs of a good sheng. Enjoyable now and suitable for further ageing.
