Description
A red (black) tea made from Feng Huang Dan Cong leaf. Instead of being processed as the classic Phoenix oolong, the Dan Cong material here is fully oxidised like a red tea, giving a very different but surprisingly expressive cup. Offered loose in 25 g packs.
The aroma is intense and deep: honey, ripe fruit, flowers and a lovely natural sweetness. The taste is soft, round and clean, without sharpness or bitterness, and the liquor pours a warm, clear amber-red.
The best part is that the Dan Cong character is still unmistakable, just presented in a much gentler, warmer way. It comes from the same producer as our Dan Cong oolongs, the best Dan Cong source we found out of about 30.
A tea for anyone who loves the perfume of Dan Cong but wants something mellower, or for red tea drinkers looking for a cup with more aroma than usual. Easy and rewarding both gongfu style and in a Western pot.
