Dong Fang Hong (东方红), "The East Is Red", is a famous Feng Huang Dan Cong from Phoenix Mountain in Chaozhou, Guangdong. It is a named single-bush type with a long history in the Wudong area of the mountain, and one of the more prestigious names in the Dan Cong world.
Dong Fang Hong is known for an elegant, gardenia-like floral aroma with subtle tropical fruit notes and the mineral, "mountain" character prized in high-mountain Dan Cong. The taste is typically rich yet refined, with a long, returning sweetness.
It comes from the same producer as the rest of our Dan Cong selection, the best Dan Cong source we found out of about 30, with very clean teas and no bitterness. For anyone who already enjoys Dan Cong and wants to explore one of its classic names.
