Ruyi (如意, "as you wish", a traditional wish for good fortune) is a ripe pu-erh pressed in 2020 by Zhenyuan Shengrun Tea Industry (镇沅圣润茶业, brand 圣润祥和 Shengrun Xianghe) in Zhenyuan county, Pu'er, Yunnan. Made from Yunnan large-leaf sun-dried maocha and pressed in the classic "Qi Zi Bing" style as a compact 100 g mini cake.
The small format holds everything a full-size cake offers, the classic depth and smoothness of shu, in a size that is easy to finish, store and share. With several years of rest since pressing, the early pile-fermentation edge has settled, leaving a soft, rounded cup that is gentle and low in bitterness from the very first steep. Expect the familiar shu profile of wood, dried dates and a quiet, earthy sweetness.
The liquor is deep chestnut to red-brown, clear and glossy, with a soft texture that coats the mouth.
