Xiaguan Tuocha Shu Pu-erh (Ripe Pu-erh) 2019, 100g | Dali, Yunnan
Description
A ripe pu-erh tuocha from Xiaguan (下关), one of the most storied names in pu-erh, pressed into the classic bowl-shaped "nest" the factory is famous for. This is a special 100 g edition marking the 55th anniversary of China–France diplomatic relations (1964–2019), a nod to Xiaguan tuocha's long history of being exported to and beloved in France. Made in Dali, Yunnan, pressed on 8 August 2019.
Xiaguan is renowned for its tightly compressed tuocha and its distinctive house style. [Confirm tasting notes — a Xiaguan ripe tuocha like this typically shows wood, dried dates and a clean, gentle sweetness over a smooth earthy depth.] The dense pressing means it opens gradually, rewarding a patient session.
The liquor is deep chestnut to red-brown, thick and glossy, with a soft texture that coats the mouth. Across infusions it stays stable and generous, holding its character through many steeps while the quiet sweetness grows as the session goes on.
A characterful, collectible little tuocha that works on every level: a smooth daily shu, a convenient 100 g format, and a dated anniversary piece with a genuine story behind it. Ready to drink now and steady to keep.
