Wu Fu Lin Men "Five Blessings" Shou Mei White Tea with Tangerine Peel, Ganoderma, Jujube and Dendrobium, 5g | Fuding, Fujian

Wu Fu Lin Men (五福临门, "five blessings arrive at the door") is a traditional New Year wish, and this blend brings five ingredients together in one cup. The base is 2020 Shou Mei white tea from Fuding, Fujian, the home of Chinese white tea, pressed together with dendrobium (tie pi shi hu), tangerine peel (chenpi), ganoderma (lingzhi mushroom) and red jujube into small 5 g pieces. Made by Fuding Changpin White Tea Co. for Hualinchun (华林春) and sold individually, one piece per pack.

The aged Shou Mei is the base: soft, gently sweet and not bitter, with a warm, honeyed depth from its years of rest. Tangerine peel adds a warm citrus aroma, jujube brings a rounded, dried-fruit sweetness, and ganoderma and dendrobium give the cup a mild, earthy-woody depth and a smoother body. Expect a soft, golden, fruity-sweet infusion rather than a pure tea taste.

Each piece is one ready-measured serving, so it is simple to brew in a mug, a teapot or a thermos, at home, at the office or on the go. Use water just off the boil and let it steep for a few minutes; the leaves can be steeped again, and longer steeps bring out more sweetness from the jujube and peel.
