Tian Chun Shu Pu-erh (Ripe Pu-erh) Tea Cake 2019, 300g | Dayi (Menghai Tea Factory) with gift box

A ripe pu-erh from Dayi, pressed by the legendary Menghai Tea Factory and presented in a 300 g cake with a gift box. Its name, Tian Chun (甜醇), means "sweet and mellow", and the tea is built around exactly that: a soft, sweet shu with the smooth, rounded character the name describes. This is the 2019 pressing, now comfortably settled with age.

With around seven years behind it, the early pile-ferment edge has faded, leaving a clean, deep and sweet cup. Expect notes of dried dates, gentle wood and a warm caramel sweetness, carried by a smooth, full-bodied texture. The character is mellow and easy, the kind of drinkability that comes from real rest in the cake.

The liquor is deep chestnut to red-brown, thick and glossy, with a soft texture that coats the mouth. Across infusions it stays stable and generous, the sweetness opening further as the session goes on and trailing into a clean, mellow finish.
